Is Jenkins overkill?

We are a K12 international School and are trying to keep disparate systems updated asuch as possible. Some things already work well, like Clever, but some pieces do not have third-party alternatives due to legacy systems that are perculiar here.

Even the sync engines run on an overnight batch and in some scenarios (like username change) the timing is critical else the user cannot access the system.

I was considering using JavaScript in the front end of some of the systems to trigger webhooks and execute powershell scripts to update cascading systems (AD / MIS / CMS / Library / LMS / online textbooks). Most people suggest Jenkins for doing so, but I feel it is overkill for what I want to do which is basically have a server receive a webhook and execute a script.

Are there any other alternatives?
