CosmosDB with Student Account?

I am using CosmosDB for an academic project but I’m a little confused with how the subscription actually works.

It was my understanding that the student account provides “5 GB of Azure Cosmos DB with 400 reserved in units for 12 months”

Tonight I received an email that my account has a zero balance and the database is no longer available until I transition to a pay as you go subscription. Looking at my credit usage this is all but entirely due to CosmosDB. (Only $2 from playing with an Azure MySQL server)

So far I’ve had a great experience using CosmosDB and perhaps I have a fundamental misunderstanding in regard to what the student subscription provides but I’d appreciate anyone being able to explain this to me.

Thanks for the help!
