I’m just getting into learning PowerShell and stumbled on the fact that it will essentially be deprecated in favor of PS-Core6. I’ve read that PS5.1 will be the last “official” release with no further development.
Given that I am just getting started, is it still worth devoting a lot of time to PowerShell? I used to be pretty proficient in VBScript, only to have that die as well. From what I am understanding about PS-Core, it doesn’t seem to be nearly as feature rich as the current PowerShell environment.
Can someone provide some background on why Microsoft decided to do this? I read their release and it seemed the main reasons were to make it muti-OS friendly and also to make it easier for developers.
